COLNEY were making their first-ever appearance in the Trophy, but there was to be no happy ending.
The Magpies stunned the visitors in the 24th minute when George Devine pounced after a cracking 30-yard strike by Chris Griffin hit the crossbar.
Three minutes later Basildon equalised when a quick ball was played in and Luke Hurst lifted the ball over the head of Connor Sansom.
The visitors then went ahead when Bertie Brayley chipped the ball over the advancing Sansom.
