STEP 4 City of Liverpool achieved a surprise but deserved Trophy victory at Buxton for the second time in three years.
The National League North hosts were missing no fewer than 11 players but seized the advantage in the first half, dominated possession but producing little in the way of goalscoring chances.
Their biggest threat came from left-winger and debutant Will Bapaga, who as early as the second minute fired a promising cross which Scott Boden flicked wide.
