WEST Auckland struck twice in the closing stages in Oldham to end the spirited challenge of hosts Avro.
Home keeper Jordan Latham denied veteran former Football League striker Paul Connor early on. Joe Bevan’s deflected drive from just outside the box was then held by West keeper Shane Bland in an evenly fought first half.
Latham had to backtrack to tip over Adam Mitchell’s goal-bound lob.
Kane Wallwork’s cross saw Michael Stockdale head straight at Bland as both sides searched for the opener.
