Step forward Brett Pitman who, as captain of Portsmouth in 2019, had the honour of lifting the EFL Trophy after Sunderland were overcome in front of a then-record crowd of 85,021.
“It was a very special day to be the skipper and win in front of 85,000 people, which was an astonishing crowd,” Pitman recalls to The NLP.
“My family and friends were all there and what we achieved will never leave me. It remains a treasured memory.”
