PHOENIX retained their slim chance of the play offs, leaving them on the heels of the chasing pack.
With both sides struggling in the wind early on, Sports struck on 12 minutes when a mistake allowed Theo Fairweather- Johnson to run on and fire into the net.
With Phoenix in control, a long throw enabled defender Jack Barry to rise unchallenged and head home.
Christie Pattison also had a good chance to increase the lead.
