HORNCHURCH were penned back in the first half by a lively Abbey side, but they could not get through a defence ably marshalled by Alex Bentley and a midfield with Abs Seymour dominant.
The second half was a much different affair as Abbey survived a continuous Hornchurch onslaught.
James Pelling saved from Neil McKenzie and George Purcell but was fortunate to stay on the pitch when he fouled Purcell outside the area.
