■ KEEPER Ben Barnes saved a penalty as Marine earned a creditable draw against Blackburn Rovers’ development squad. The Crosby side enjoyed the first sight of goal as debutant George Hassel played Michael Brewster into the box but the midfielder’s effort was pushed past the post by visiting keeper Charlie Albinson.
However, the Mariners made the breakthrough ten minutes before the break as Brewster’s good work on the right saw his cross met by Hassel, who directed a wellplaced header inside the far post.
