A PENALTY by Antoine Semenyo just before the break and a late strike by Padraig Amond settled matters as Newport inflicted a first preseason defeat on National League North newcomers Hereford.
Hereford fans were getting their first look at new arrivals Keiran Thomas, Danny Greenslade, Callum Sainty and Harry White who have all signed on for the new season.
In an even first period, there were a handful of chances at both ends.
For Hereford, White had a shot saved by keeper Joe Day while Mike McGrath sent a free-kick a yard wide.
