HITCHIN secured their first points of the season with a 19thminute strike from skipper Dan Webb following a high free-kick from Noah Chesmain.
The hosts dominated the first half with Jack Green outstanding on the right flank and Ezra Forde threatening in the middle. Redditch struggled for possession and a second home goal was ruled out for offside.
In the second half Hitchin could have wrapped it up with a penalty which Elliot Bailey sent embarrassingly over the bar.
