BASINGSTOKE edged a thrilling tie in which they took the lead three times.
The visitors first went ahead in the fourth minute when Ben Cook’s back post header looped over keeper Lewis Clayton.
They held on to the lead until the half-hour mark when Mark Dennis chipped the ball behind Basingstoke’s back line and Ollie Artwell fired in.
Parity was short-lived, Harrison Cliff running on to a long ball and centring to Riccardo Andrady to jab the visitors into a half-time lead.
