THE FA Trophy was paraded before kick-off but it won’t be coming Hythe’s way this year as two second-half goals for Ben Pope gave Hastings a hard-earned win in front of a good-sized crowd on the south coast.
Hythe took an early lead through Alex Flisher, a low shot from a tight angle that beat Louis Rogers at his near post.
It was an even first half, with both keepers called on, but Hastings took control after the break to seal their passage into the next round.
