ASHTON United withstood a Swindon fightback to get the better of last season’s League Two champions.
The hosts took only ten minutes to move ahead as flying full-back John Lufudu provided the perfect pull-back from the by-line for Louis Almond to net a confident low finish.
Twelve minutes later Liam Tomsett was fouled and Josh Wilson doubled the lead from the spot.
On 30 minutes, Mathieu Baudry halted Tomsett’s run on the edge of the area and John Pritchard superbly curled home the resulting free- kick.
