FANS returned to the Northolme after five months and saw Gainsborough claim a narrow win over Workington.
Luke Lofts’ goal just before half-time proved decisive in a close game.
Gregg Smith twice went close for Trinity early on with head and boot. Smith forced a point-blank save from Jim Alexander in the visitors’ goal following a cross from the right.
Ruben Jerome was just wide on the turn for Workington and a well-worked free-kick routine saw Scott Allison denied by the post.
