NEWCASTLE Town fell to defeat despite a spirited display against League Two Salford City.
The Ammies opened the scoring after just four minutes when Matt Smith turned in an excellent long cross.
They doubled their lead on 28 minutes as Smith rose highest to head in his second goal.
But Newcastle struck back minutes later, with a thunderous long-range strike from centre-back Ethan Vale.
