BLYTH Spartans’ final pre-season game ended in defeat at Northern Premier League East division newcomers North Shields.
Both sides had chances in a goalless first half, Michael Richardson hitting the post for Blyth, JJ O’Donnell and new Carlisle loanee Sam Fishburn also going close.
Brad Hird was wide at the near post for the Robins while Cameron Cunningham missed a great chance.
