LEAGUE One Portsmouth secured a narrow victory over their National League South neighbours in front of a bumper crowd of 4,250 in their traditional pre-season fixture at Westleigh Park.
Boss John Musinho paid the Hawks the honour of fielding all his fully-fit senior players in blustery conditions.
The first half was lsrgely quiet, the best chance for Pompey saw Hawks keeper Ross Worner race off his line to deny Destiny Ojo as he ran onto Paddy Lanes’ threaded pass.
