SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher admitted there is plenty for the Shrimpers to work on following a hard-fought win.
A late effort from Charley Kendall secured victory for Blues after a first half penalty from Shrimpers wing-back Gus Scott-Morriss was quickly cancelled out by Bishop’s Stortford striker Saleem Akambi.
But Maher knows his side, who reached last season’s Promotion Final where they fell to Oldham Athletic, must improve before the National League campaign gets underway next month.
