HIGTON DOESN’T COME UP SHORT

MANAGER Marcus Newell praised him but Cleethorpes Town goalkeeper Liam Higton couldn’t look past the Wembley disappointment. Higton was Cleethorpes’ star, denying South Shields time and again, including an excellent save at full-stretch to tip David Foley’s 25-yard strike on to the bar.
In truth, South Shields could have been out of sight long before Dillon Morse’s header was followed by a late Foley brace to add to Carl Finnigan’s first-half penalty were it not for Higton. But the keeper was understandably downbeat.
