IT’S probably something a football writer shouldn’t admit to but I can’t be alone in thanking the heavens there’s no summer international football.
No pre-amble, no friends convincing us the Three Lions do actually have a chance despite our zero world class players, no always-innocent England fans running into trouble abroad and above all else, no inevitable let down.
You blame yourself, of course. I always do. Why do we let ourselves get sucked in by the Euros or the World Cup? National pride maybe, invariably it’s the hope that kills you.
