CONSETT remain second despite a 4-0 hammering at home to mid-table Newcastle Benfield.
Consett’s previous 11 games had produced a total of 57 goals, the Steelmen scoring 35 of them.
But they drew a blank against a Benfield side that were three up at half-time and also missed a penalty.
Jake Orrell’s eighth-minute strike opened the floodgates, Josh Scott doubling the lead three minutes later.
