RYAN, 23, FORCED TO HANG UP BOOTS

TORQUAY United defender Ryan Higgins has been forced to retire at the age of 23 after being diagnosed with a serious heart condition.
Higgins, who joined the Gulls from Southport in the summer, was advised to give up the game by doctors after it was shown he has inherited the same condition as his sister, who was rushed to hospital back in November.
“It has been a long and difficult process,” said the former Birmingham, Telford and Chester man. “It is heartbreaking news and something I will have to digest.
