CITY UP FOR SALE AS TRUST OPPOSE MCGILL

THE future of York City hangs in the balance after chairman Jason McGill listed the proud former Football League club for sale having failed to receive the backing of the Supporters Trust.
Trust members voted two to one against transferring their 25 per cent shareholding to JM Packaging – McGill’s business which has owned the club since 2006 – on Thursday.
In return, the Trust would have received a special ‘golden share’ to keep certain protections in place, knowing the longstanding owner was likely to withdraw his funding if they refused.
