On a slightly more delicate note, I wanted to pass comment on the story to the right of this column. Mark Harris, the Northern Premier League’s chairman, has hit the nail on the head with his wider point of showing more respect to match officials.
The efforts of Zharir Mustafa – the heroic linesman whose quickfire response was so crucial to the recovery of Danny Frost after suffering such a horrific injury – should serve as a reminder to everyone about showing officials more respect.
