Rethink or it will be a farce

THERE seems to be a massive flaw in the new Step 4 play-off system. At the initial play-off stage, two of the 28 teams across the seven divisions, with the lowest points per game, have no chance of promotion yet face a meaningless midweek away game, which could be over 100 miles away.
Teams that now strive to ‘scrape into’ the play-offs on the last day of the season may think again for this very reason. The point of the playoffs is surely that all teams that qualify have a fair chance of promotion.
