Volunteers reap ultimate reward

WE were surprised to read the letter from Ryan Herrmann (Fans’ Forum, August 12) regarding not being given free entry at Wingate & Finchley FC through working as a volunteer.
Surely the idea of volunteering is to give something back to your local community and make a difference – giving something for no expectation of reward.
As a fan-owned community club, Chester FC could not afford to pay the small army of volunteers that help to run the club and certainly could not manage without their day-to-day input – it’s not just about match days!
