Are we just playing 50-minute halves?

HAS anyone else noticed the inconsistencies in added-on time?
It seems to have become standard procedure to add four or five minutes to the end of every game, regardless of stoppages. I attended a King’s Lynn Town game recently where there was quite a lot of time running down the clock with trainers being called on and the referee lecturing players etc. The time added was four minutes.
But a week later, at Dereham Town, there were no stoppages, no trainers and no obvious reason to add time but again the time added was four minutes.
Maybe the second half should just be scheduled for 50...
