■ SACKED Egham Town manager Simon Lane says he was warned about taking the job last January, and so it has proved.
The former Northwood boss has been axed by chairman Pat Bennett just four games into the season following a 3-0 defeat at Chalfont St Peter.
In a parting statement, Lane said: “When any manager loses his job four games into the season with a brand new squad, there is not too much to say that real football people won’t have already worked out.
