TURNER ON BOARD TO LEAD NEW CITY CLUB

FORMER Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester United goalkeeper Chris Turner is behind a new project to give the West Yorkshire city of Wakefield its own football club.
Turner, 60, who managed Wednesday as well as Leyton Orient, Hartlepool United and Stockport County, will become chairman of the newly-founded Wakefield AFC in the Central Midlands League next season.
Playing at Pontefract Collieries’ stadium initially for home fixtures, it is hoped that the club will eventually ground share with the Wakefield Trinity rugby league team at Belle Vue once the stadium is redevelop...
