BASFORD SWOOP TO LAND CHETTLE

FORMER Nottingham Forest defender Steve Chettle has left his role at city rivals Notts County to become the new manager of Basford United.
The 50-year-old was named first-team coach at Meadow Lane under Kevin Nolan in August last year, having previously managed Ilkeston Town, who are also owned by Magpies chairman Alan Hardy.
He had two spells in caretaker charge this season following the sackings of Nolan and Harry Kewell, while also guiding the Magpies’ reserves side to the final of this season’s Central League Cup.
