MET POLICE have renamed their main stand in honour of long-standing chairman Des Flanders.
The Met chief has been in charge for 25 years, a quarter of the club’s existence who celebrate its centenary season this year, and has overseen their rise to establishing themselves at Step 3.
Flanders started his police career with Surrey Police. For nine years, until he moved to the Met in 1985, he was chairman of the Surrey Police Football Club. His experience in the game led to being on the board of the Isthmian League from 2004 to 2017.
