Classy Linnets end Blues cup run

Leek Town’s cup run came to an end after they succumbed to a superior Linnets side whose second- half performance showed the two league gulf between the teams as they secured a comfortable 2-0 victory.
In front of a season’s-best crowd of 780, the Blues more than matched their opponents for the first 45 minutes. In fact, they had the best chance of the half on 13 minutes when Linnets keeper Alexander Street just managed to claw the ball away and prevent it going over the line when under pressure after a superb cross from Billy Reeves.
