AN FA spokesperson said: “It is a mandatory requirement for all affiliated clubs in England to have public liability insurance and personal accident insurance for their players. We regularly review the insurance requirements to ensure they meet the needs of the game.
“In 2012, the FA introduced the National Game Insurance Scheme to raise the standards of insurance and help facilitate a uniformity of basic cover across the game. It was designed in consultation with county FAs, leagues and clubs.
