GAINSBOROUGH Trinity extended their unbeaten run to nine league games with a resilient victory over promotion-chasing Basford. Alex Wiles netted the only goal of the game in a match where the home side belied their league position to secure three valuable points. First half chances were at a premium for both sides, though Basford had the first real sight of goal. James Reid profited from an Ashley Worsfold cut-back, only to see his effort comfortably smothered by George Willis.
