CELTIC’S winless run stretched to seven games but they gave leaders South Shields an anxious afternoon. Shields looked set fair when they took a 12th minute lead, Wouter Verstraasen taking advantage of some poor defending from the home side to rifle home from 12 yards. Two minutes later, he had the opportunity to double the lead when he found space on the right but the shot was scuffed and a grateful Alex Fojticek made the save.
