MERSTHAM made it seven points from nine with a first-half penalty from Calvin Ekpiteta. The Moatsiders could have been in a clear lead by the break, but had to endure a nervy last 15 minutes as Margate threw men forward in search of an equaliser. Merstham led in the 21st minute when Shola Ayoola was fouled by Gate keeper Joe Tupper after the Merstham forward got to a bouncing ball first.
