IT HASN’T been a straight path for any of us. Back in 2009, I was at Walsall and on the bench in League One but I never got on the pitch.
I turned down a contract and went out to Duke University in America for four years to get my degree and play in the college system.
When I came back to England I played part-time for Nuneaton and Tamworth. By that point I had a day job and you kind of think that’s going to be your career.
