FIREWORKS SCARE AS POOLS HOPE FIZZLES OUT

PLAYERS were lucky to escape injury when a firework landed on the pitch during Hartlepool’s extra-time defeat at Salford.
Play was halted briefly in extra-time when a firework from outside the ground was launched into the stadium, landing on the pitch during a Hartlepool attack and narrowly missing players.
“It was more like playing in Turkey than Salford when that happened,” said Hartlepool boss Dave Challinor.
