However, Hampton thought they had taken the lead on the half-hour mark when sub Wilson Carvalho found himself through on goal but passed to an offside Ruaridh Donaldson, who steered the ball home.
On the cusp of half-time. Zan Banton delivered a beautiful chipped through ball to Mitchell Weiss, whose smart control and finish gave Saints the interval lead..
