GATE IS CLOSED FOR THE TROPHY

MARGATE have become the first club to withdraw from this season’s FA Trophy.
Jay Saunders’ side were due to play Burgess Hill Town in the first round proper of the competition next Tuesday.
But with the Kent club in a Tier 3 area and the Trident Leagues opting to extend its suspension of Step 3-4 football, Gate chiefs say its not worth the risk taking part.
A club statement read: “After much deliberation, we have taken the very tough decision to withdraw from the FA Trophy.
