A BELOW-PAR Basingstoke eventually saw off a dogged Ashford side as Stefan Brown scored his fifth goal in five games late on.
It was a game of few chances as Stoke struggled to break Ashford down and visitors, having lost top scorer Aaron Mc- Leish-White to Bracknell, offered little threat.
