ALFIE IS MOURNED

THE football community of west Cornwall has been devastated by the tragic loss of 19-year-old Penzance striker Alfie Beard, who sadly lost his life in a road traffic accident this week.
Beard was one of bosses Darren Smith and Lee Major’s first signing for the Magpies reserves in July, He was described as “full of energy and goals – amenace to any defence”.
In his four pre-season matches this summer, Beard scored twice against St Day and the team’s most recent goal, at St Just last Saturday. His No.10 shirt will be retired.
