SAM HIGGINS’ double, including his late deflected dead ball winner was the difference as Hornchurch retained top spot with a hard-fought win over Cray Wanderers.
The striker, on a rich vein of form, only had to wait 17 minutes to extend his goal scoring run.
Ola Ogunwamide picked him out expertly with a neat pass and Higgins spun and shot low past Wands keeper Shaun Rowley.
It was nearly 2-0 when a Jack Munns corner was met by Nathan Bertram-Cooper but his forceful header was tipped onto the bar by Rowley.
