EVANS KOUASSI’S 40th-minute winner proved perfect away from home for play-off hopefuls Canvey Island, edging out 1-0 winners after a scrappy encounter.
Kouassi found himself with an opportunity inside 30 seconds, but Matt Rowley was equal to his effort.
Straight afterwards, Charlie Edwards squared the ball to Joe Paxman who created another Canvey chance low goalwards but Rowley was again alert, gathering the ball as danger lurked.
Kouassi would break the deadlock though, just before half-time.
