UNI ACE LANDS A PRO DEAL

YOUNG defender Laiith Fairnie has become the first player from Hartpury University’s senior set-up to earn a professional contract.
The England Schools centre-back has landed a first pro deal with Championship club Birmingham City following a successful trial with the Blues’ Under 21 side.
Fairnie first caught the eye while playing for the Step 6 Hellenic League side last season, receiving a call-up to the England Under 18, for whom he later captained.
In one game, against Greece, he scored a hat-trick, including a sensational free-kick.
