GATE OPEN UP IN STYLE AS ROBERTS BAGS BRACE

MARGATE clinched all three points on the opening day of the season thanks to a brace from Phil Roberts.
Gate were awarded a penalty in the seventh minute when Mitch Walker brought down Steve Cawley but the goalkeeper made amends by diving low to his left to keep out Ben Greenhalgh’s attempt.
Whitehawk had a decent attempt from a corner seven minutes later but they headed just wide of the post.
