■ THATCHAM edged this opening-day fixture with a goal from Sam Tanner, who headed home from a few yards out in the 54th minute.
Marlow had the better of the game in the first half with an Aaron Mc- Leish-White goal ruled out for offside midway through the first half, and Rhys Harper seeing his fierce shot hit a post as the home side looked to take advantage of a strong opening period.
The second half didn’t quite live up to the first in terms of chances created, with the winner really being the only clear chance taken by Tanner.
