HEARTBREAK FOR MALLET AS LAIRD IS THE WINNER

A BRACE of sweet strikes from former Stevenage midfielder Scott Laird was enough to see Barnstaple Town into the FA Vase 3rd Qualifying Round draw after what was a stop-start game where the home side played for an hour with ten men.
Home goalkeeper Tom Roberts had already been cautioned when he brought down Stuart Bowker just outside the area and was sent off, to be replaced by Will Hunter who picked Laird’s free-kick out of the net for his first touch after 35 minutes.
