ASHINGTON recorded their second win in a row to lift themselves to 12th in the table.
Two quick fire goals early in the second half from Craig Spooner and Wilson Kneeshaw gave the Colliers the advantage.
Ashington had hit the woodwork twice from on loan striker Connor Thomson and Craig Spooner which could have put the game to be.
Pontefract reacted with some strong attacks, but weren’t able to capitalise until the 90th minute when Adam Haw gave the visiting supporters some small hope.
