■ RUNCORN Linnets were too good for Bootle at the Delta Taxis Stadium on Friday.
While both sides chalked up a number of efforts in the first half, it was the visitors who deservedly broke the deadlock, with Ryan Brooke pouncing to put his side ahead just before the half-time whistle.
Bootle hauled themselves level through a Jake Burton strike from outside the box.
Then, a fingertip save from Bayleigh Passant denied Sam Burns. Bootle’s joy proved to be short-lived as Adam Moseley converted for Runcorn from a wonderful James Hooper cross.
