LAST season’s FA Vase semi-finalists Congleton huffed, puffed and blew down the Students’ house to comfortably progress.
Max McCarthy might have broken the deadlock 11 minutes before half-time, but flicked his header wide from a Peter Williams pass.
The opener arrived five minutes before the break with Darren Chadwick’s header cleared, then swiftly deemed to have crossed the line after the referee consulted his assistant.
